Sunday afternoon works for me. Suggest we do a Quarries/Mast Yard/Lehtinen combo from Concord, sticking to the smoothest quarries stuff so as not to get bogged down in the technical. A friendly fun ride which I guarantee you will enjoy. Starts with the work and gets easier as we go. If it is just a few of us, we can ride as the group agrees. 3.5-4 hours.

Bear Brook>Fomba means getting carried away by deer flies, which are ridiculously thick there right now.

We can do some grilling afterward, etc...

11 am Sunday at my place.

The VT ride is 2.5 hours from Concord and I want to plug into a VT resource. I can do it in late October/ early November due to business travel and UNH commitment.

This Sunday is out for me - I'll be in Maine. Maybe the 2nd weekend in Aug?

Sorry Al, I'm only good for a couple of hours tomorrow. Probably Plummer's Landing / Goat Hill if left to my own devices. There's an outside chance I'll get ambitious and do the George St. Challenge, but that's unlikely.

Now you know my frustrations Al for putting all this time and effort into rebuilding the web site and have no one post race reports or rides. Everyone is on Facebook. I think starting next year anyone who plans to be a member of MTBMind will be required to post and communicate to the mtb community via this forum since the team name has a dot com in it. :)

August is a busy month for me with big races every weekend. It's hard for me to plan a group ride othrer than a non-race weekend.

Yo Al,

I gave up racing this year but still cover the EFTA races.

My biggest problem with group rides is the fact I am a dead anchor and would just slow ya'll down. I did get encouraging news from my Othopedec doc and knee replacement is at least ten years away. Most of my group riding has been a twosome being Dawn and Maz. We do ride with the Greatful tread, a lay back group of guys. Yesterday we rode FOMBA with the guys and bike mecs from Bensons, again lay back bunch. As for our twosome rides we are finding lots a great places and find the Hampstead trails our number one destination. Above all this we are talking about returning for the 12 hours of Bradbury next year, with gears. I just have to figure out how to use them.

Never have been a facebooker.

No biggie. Just trying to catalyze a ride with folks I enjoy sharing the trail with.
Pete Burant and I did 3 hours in the Quarries and Mast Yard. Concord now has 18 officially designated trail systems, with three major rides emerging from it. The others are mostly stand alones but I've often strung together a series of them.
1. Oak Hill- an hour and a half of hilly singletrack ( plus 20 min trail and road ride each way from my back door to get there),
2. The Quarries including Winant Park - three hours of technical if you ride it all and 5 minutes from my door. And
3. Mast Yard/Lehtninen Park, easy flat double track and riverside singletrack swoopy -2.5 hours from my house including 10 minutes of road each way. Mast Yard will be joined to the to-be-built Rossview Farm/Carter Hill trail system. These new trails will make for a 4+ hour ride from my place on a variety of terrain. It'll be fantastic.
4. Canterbury Loop, 3 hours of mostly doubletrack on remote land accessed by 15 min road ride each way.
5. Mt Kearsarge out and back - 7 hours of doubletrack and rustic hillside stuff. 60 miles.
I'm gratefully fortunate in many ways and living in concord with all these trails to choose from is among them. Concord's cycling advocacy has recently resulted in the marking of north-south bike lanes from one end of town to the other - approved this year thanks especially to MTBMinder Peter Rhodes. Concord's trail guide and funding for trailwork shows the city's commitment to the value of trails and greenways. And S&W Sports has become the big advocate for a new bike sharing initiative. We must be moving into the 20teens where cycling revisits pre-1930's era transportation dominated by foot, bicycles and horses.

Chris, If I remember correctly....you drove us to facebook. Anyway, I'm going to North Conway this weekend....same deal as usual...lots to do. I can see us planning some fun stuff in the fall when the racing is done (Bradbury for me}. Highland anyone?

I don't recall ever driving anyone over to Facebook Dave. If that was the case I wouldn't have spent countless hours trying to get this forum back to the 2002-2004 days when we were seeing 10,000+ hits per month and seeing 5-15 race reports the evening of the race.

Sure Facebook is fun and all but I don't see anyone posting under the MTBMind Facebook page nor do I see anyone replying to any e-mails I send out - except of course the ones that involve really good discounts on products. This is probably the biggest year for mountain biking in terms of numbers in over 5 years and it would be nice to get some sort of community going again like we had in the past when EVERYONE was on here talking about trails, races, and general mountain biking.

What's the point of having a team if everyone has their own personal Facebook page and communicates to a select group of friends?

My facebook scheme is simple....Everyone except Wendy and Jessica that I am friends with has something to do with mountain biking....nothing else. I am friends with everyone on the team past and present that is on facebook as far as I know....along with many others from the mountain biking community who I like to ride with or see at races. Be that as it may.....I still come to this site daily.

Yeah I hear ya Dave and that's awesome. I'm certainly not taking aim or pointing fingers, but just stating a huge noticeable difference in how the "Team" communicates to each other. There are plenty of mtbmind teammates past and present who ride and race somewhere, however my point is we have to go searching around to find what people on the team are doing rather than coming on here and seeing it.

I wish there was a way of streaming all of the teammates Facebook data into the site, however plugins only allow for one Facebook user to be displayed at a time.

Hello everyone!! I'd looove to meet up and ride, although I'd be holding all of you back. We're unable to make it anyways due to family obligations (grunt).
Is anyone racing August 22nd? The Hampshire 100 is that Sunday. We're still up in the air about doing it. My point being, that weekend is possible for us. However, we'll be backpacking, hiking, and doing some riding the last week of August so if it's possible for us to get a date and location set for some team reconnecting before Summer is over that would be...lovely.

Thanks a bunch Chris for figuring out my log in problems. I have soooo much to write about and I have to find the time to contribute here which is only fair.

I feel fortunate to have great team mates that share the spirit for racing and are really cool people.

I'm doing the VT 6 hour race on Aug. 21st. I don't think I'll be doing the Hampshire 100 the next day.

I thought that too, but everywhere I look now (http://www.peakraces.com, bikereg and the mtbmind home page) it says the 21st. Go figure.
