The Big Ring Rumpus was well received by most all who raced it. Course was by all means very fast with timed laps for the four mile mayhem starting at 12 minutes on up. I would venture to say Experts were averaging 14 minutes as the course and wet weather made for a slower course.
The 1st race started around 9:30, a half hour late with Novice and a few 1st timers. After staging the race with Randi I caught up with and rode with a 1st timer, Ariella, my new little eight y/o friend. I talked and coached her thru one grueling lap reaching speeds of close to 10mph at least once. We took quite a few breaks and walked all the hilly section along with walking down that steep loose section with a loose sand trap of a hairpin turn. We were both elated to see the "3" mile marker at which point I reinstated my coaching motto that "only losers quit and we're gonna finish, Because all whom finish are winners".
The 2nd race started some time around 10;30 with Cyclocross and Sports. This time after staging the race with Randi I followed the field and picked up sticks and stones kicked up onto the now well defined race line.
The 3rd and last race started around 12:30 with a threat off halting it earlier than the scheduled distance due to a storm front approching. This race was the Elite, Expert and Singlespeeders. After staging this race I went back to help out with awards for cyclocross and sport, when I was pulled from that and sent to course marshall "Sand trap turn". Then the rain came and holy s**t did it come down. Most riders were finishing and just a few had to pulled from the course.
I'll be back at the course today de-arrowing and cleaning up.
